Floodlighting
"In 1999 and in the run up to the Millennium celebrations, permanent floodlighting
was installed at the Church. This work was achieved thanks to a large grant from
the Lottery sponsored Millennium Church Floodlighting Fund and the support of The
Friends of St Barts. We were lucky to receive this grant as there were only limited
funds available from this source. We were delighted when our application was accepted.
I'm sure this was because I was able to show with good photographic evidence that
St Barts was situated in a location which was a beacon to the surrounding area including
(and at a risk of life and limb !) from the M4 motorway. It gives me immense pride
to see the church flood lit. Prior to this, at night, our Church always looked to
me like the missing tooth in the 'smile' of Wootton Bassett's High Street." -
