There are many saints’ days spread throughout the year.
Those listed below are just a small selection:
January 26th - Timothy and Titus : Companions of Paul.
February 14th - Valentine : Bishop. Martyred at Rome, c.269.
March 1st - David : Monk and Bishop in the 6th century. Patron Saint of Wales
March 17th - Patrick : Bishop and Missionary. c.390 - 460AD. Patron Saint of Ireland
April 23rd - George : died c.303AD. Martyr and Patron Saint of England (also Greece.)
April 25th - Mark : died c.74AD. Writer of the second gospel. Patron Saint of Venice.
May 1st - Philip and James : Apostles
May 30th - Joan of Arc : 1412-1431AD. Virgin and martyr. Patron Saint of France
June 24th - John the Baptist : died c.30AD. Beheaded by Herod Antipas.
July 15th - Swithun (Swithin) : died c.862. Bishop of Winchester.
July 22nd - Mary Magdelene : First to discover the empty tomb after the resurrection.
August 15th - Blessed Virgin Mary : Mary the Mother of Jesus.
August 24th - Bartholomew the Apostle : Very little known. Patron of our church.
September 21st - Matthew : Apostle and writer of the first gospel. Also called Levi.
September 29th - Michael and all Angels : Michael, archangel.
October 4th - Francis of Assisi : died 1226. Friar, Deacon and founder of the Friars
Minor.
October 18th - Luke : Writer of the 3rd gospel. Thought to have been a doctor.
November 1st - All Saints' Day
November 22nd - Cecilia : Born in Rome in the 3rd century. Patron Saint of music.
December 6th - Nicholas : 4th century. Bishop of Myra. Patron Saint of children.
December 26th - Stephen : Deacon and First Martyr
